Establishment

Following a decision made at the Higher Education Executive Board meeting on December 16, 2020, the "Horticulture Program" was established for the 2020-2021 academic year in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547, as amended by Law No. 2880.

Degree Earned

After successfully completing the 120 ECTS credits and graduation requirements, students who successfully complete the "Horticulture" associate degree program will receive an "Associate Degree" and have the opportunity to work as "Horticulture Technicians" at institutions.

Program Profile

The program aims to meet the need for qualified technical personnel who are up-to-date on current developments in the cultivation of vegetables, fruits, vineyards, and ornamental plants. Students in the Horticulture program are trained in a practical approach, taking courses in cultivation, propagation, harvesting, storage, and marketing in fruit, vegetable, and viticulture. The need for qualified technical personnel is rapidly increasing. This program trains qualified technicians who are equipped to meet the need for highly skilled technical personnel.

Employment Profiles of Graduates

Students graduating from this program can work in the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, agricultural enterprises, private sector organizations that provide inputs (seeds, organic fertilizers, organic pesticides) for horticultural production, small and medium-sized agro-based industries, and SMEs. They can also engage in agriculture themselves. Transition to Further Studies

Candidates who successfully complete their associate degree can transfer to the relevant undergraduate program in Agricultural Engineering and Cultivated Plant Production and Marketing through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS), within their available quota.
